Renovyx Liquid Glass — Application Guide. Read this fully before you open the bottle. Renovyx is easy, but the result depends almost entirely on prep and a clean, even application. Ten minutes of reading here is what separates a deep, glassy finish from streaks you have to redo.

What's in your kit

  • Renovyx Liquid Glass (8 oz)
  • Foam applicator pad
  • Painter's tape
  • Nitrile gloves
  • Microfiber towel

You'll also need: car wash soap + water, isopropyl alcohol (IPA) or a wax & grease remover, and a shaded, dry spot to work. A clay bar is optional but helps on neglected paint.

Step 1 — Prep (the most important step)

  • Wash the panel with car soap and water, then dry completely.
  • Wipe it down with IPA or wax & grease remover. This strips old wax, oils, and residue so Renovyx can grip. Skipping this is the #1 cause of a poor result.
  • Clay bar any rough, contaminated paint for the smoothest finish (optional but recommended on older cars).
  • Work in shade, on a cool, dry surface — never in direct sun or on a hot panel.
  • Tape off rubber trim, plastic edges, and seams you want to keep clean.
  • Test a small section of one panel first so you're comfortable before doing the whole car.

Step 2 — Apply

  • Shake the bottle (cap on), then remove the seal.
  • Load the foam pad — pour a small amount onto the pad and keep it lightly moist, not dripping. Re-wet the pad as it dries out; don't let it run dry mid-panel.
  • Work one panel at a time. Glide edge to edge in straight, overlapping strokes, light and even pressure.
  • Follow the panel's direction: doors and trunk — side to side; hood — start near the windshield and work toward the front.
  • Apply once. You have a 2–3 minute working window per section. Even it out within that window, then leave it alone — don't keep going back over a spot after it starts to set.
⚠️ If it streaks during application: wipe the whole panel with IPA/degreaser and re-apply that panel from scratch. Don't try to spot-fix a panel that's already starting to cure.

Step 3 — Cure & after-care

  • Keep it dry for 24 hours — no rain, no water, no touching. Park indoors the first night if you can, to avoid morning dew.
  • Sunlight helps it harden faster once applied.
  • Hand-wash only after 48 hours. Avoid automatic brush car washes — they scratch any finish, including this one.
  • Once fully cured, it's a hard, clear coating and everyday washing stays easy.

Fixing mistakes

  • Within ~1 hour: wipe off with IPA or degreaser and re-apply.
  • After it cures (~3 hours+): Renovyx sets into a real, durable layer — removing it then requires machine polishing (wet-sand / heavy cut). That permanence is the point, so get the prep and application right the first time.

Common mistakes & how to avoid them

  • Streaks — caused by too many overlapping passes, working in sun, or uneven motion. Fix: straight lines, keep the pad moist, don't rework a section.
  • Rainbowing / thin low spots — almost always not enough product. Fix: keep the pad loaded and pressure light and even.
  • Fish-eyes / solvent pops — from applying over a wet or under-cured coat. Fix: let each coat cure a full 24 hours before adding another.
  • Dirt specks in the finish — a prep problem. Fix: clean and decontaminate thoroughly before you start.

Multiple coats

For severely faded paint, you can apply a second coat 24 hours after the first. Most cars only need one.

Safety

  • Wear the gloves. Work in a ventilated area.
  • Keep away from open flame — the carrier is a solvent until it cures.
  • Keep out of reach of children. Avoid contact with eyes and skin.
